I pay my respects to Elders past, present, and emerging and acknowledge the traditional owners of this land on which I was born and raised.
The Sweet Rain series is designed to ignite imagination and celebrate life. It signifies a raindrop’s journey from the clouds to the earth and its importance to the land and our lives. The ancient traditional Aboriginal symbol of rain is portrayed through my own contemporary artistic lens. I have designed the symbol to have a cup of delicate dots that surround just the bottom of each coloured stroke, in a cascading effect. The colour of each drop signifies a part of my life story and is applied in layers of fine art strokes. The colours hold a visual memory of the beautiful Australian landscapes through my eyes.
My ever-evolving exploration of colour comes with my fascination of the many colours in rain. My imagination runs wild with colour every day. In my Sun Showers series, I wish to take you on a journey with me, exploring colours through my eyes, giving you a feeling of freedom as the beautiful sun shower rain drops fall onto the canvas in a celebration of colour.
Feel joy from the moment raindrops burst from the sun lit sky, cascading down like showers of gold. See rainbows after the sun showers pass. Let your imagination take you away and in each drop of paint see rain in all its glory, because rain is precious, just like our lives.
I choose to open my eyes and see things for what they truly are. I have braved the storms, witnessed grey but now all I see is colour. I see the beauty in sun showers and feel blessed to be alive. Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday, and dance in the rain today, to celebrate tomorrow.
